At this year’s E3 show in June, Microsoft revealed that PUBG would be coming exclusively to the Xbox One consoles. The rapid rise of PUBG has raised many eyes around the industry.

A simple premise, exciting gameplay, and a seemingly infinite number of amazing moments has made PUBG one of the most watchable PC games ever made. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is unquestionably the runaway hit of early 2017 and is consistently one of the most watched games on Twitch. For a game like PUBG to achieve a milestone of this magnitude so soon after launching onto Steam Early Access back in March is very impressive. It is also one of the biggest eSports in the world. According to Steam Spy, CS:GO has sold around 30 million copies. After Valve’s other gargantuan hit, Dota 2, CS:GO is typically the most played game on Steam. In case you’ve been in a coma since seeing Armageddon in theaters, Counter-Strike (in its various incarnations) has been one of the most played PC games of all time. For a short time, the concurrent player count of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) eclipsed that of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. In a tweet from PlayerUnknown himself early Sunday morning, it has been revealed that 230,000+ concurrent players were on the island of death. There is no need to feel like you are alone, though, because 230,000 other people are taking the same plane ride as you in this exact moment.įor a brief moment tonight, had more players online than Thank you one and all /BYN7qdSTgB You land on the island and feel helplessly alone against the swarms of folks waiting to take you out. It’s you and 99 other weirdos on this plane, all waiting to dive out onto a remote island and murder each other for a plate of chicken. Across the aisle, you spot a twenty-something guy in nothing but his underwear and some blue high tops. To your left, a copper-haired lady in a Where’s Waldo? shirt and steampunk glasses sits motionless. On the surface it’s easy to say the devs aren’t living up to the potential of the game, but NONE of us know what’s happening under the hood. You sit in the distressed cargo plane waiting for the right moment. a game mode, another thing that takes a lot of time and testing to be made up to standard before making it into the game for us to play.

Idk if you’ve seen the water gauntlet teases but it’s out there.Īs for a new game mode yes they have stated one is being worked on but they can’t tell us what yet.

they literally were just giving out the pre alpha role again but now it’s too late.Īnother gauntlet while adding it may seem simple but another gauntlet not only takes time to develop and balance but massive testing needs to be done as just 1 new element changes the dynamic of the game not only with learning how to deal with the new class but also how that element interacts with others currently in the game. The game has potential, but the devs aren’t living up to it or giving it the things it needs to succeed. That’s something I know that bugs a few people too, lol.

As little of a complaint as that seems, it does add up. It doesn’t help me that just one of the few ways they can show their appreciation to the lasting community is the discord and they won’t hand out my pre alpha role again, even though I accidentally left and immediately rejoined. The community has asked for modes and a seventh gauntlet since 1.0 launched and I don’t believe they’ve commented on those prospects at all, and if they have it’s been on a stream or discord so the entire part of the community asking for it may not see it. It doesn’t bring anything interesting to the Battle Royale formula, clash is historically a causal mode in other similar games and there’s only 6 weapons and no throwables or interesting pickups. Spellbreak was never my “main game”, but it was a game I had a blast with and wanted to do well. I’ve stopped playing because the lobbies are half bots and Proletariat haven’t added meaningful content in an extremely long time. Truthfully the game’s playerbase isn’t that healthy.
