The purpose of the "SteamVR Performance Test" is to see if your system can handle a Valve Index.ĭo you know what the "SteamVR Performance Test" does? It renders a complex scene on your screen, and measures stats from your GPU and CPU.ĭo you know what a Valve Index is? It is a DisplayPort device that acts as a second monitor. I'm to curious to know what your point is? I am not sure, but I think my video card is not supported only because it cannot encode video via USB on-the-fly.

VR-Ready means one additional thing when it comes to Oculus Quest2 technology. I am told my current video card is not supported when it comes to using "Link".īut my laptop easily passes the "SteamVR Performance Test" though! See what I mean?

Oculus has a list of video cards that are compatible with "Link". I think all of your headset and controller actions are also sent to your computer via this USB cable. That's why you need a decent computer because now, your computer/laptop is now "the gaming rig" that's rendering and executing the game.Įssentially when you're using "Link", you're simply using your Quest2 as a "screen". It then sends the "screen image" of the game to your Quest2 using this "Link".

When you do this, your computer/laptop now loads the actual game, and renders it. The Quest2 can connect to a computer/laptop using "Link".Įither by using a good quality/fast USB 3.0 cable, or via Wifi (must use a fast 5ghz router). It's quite lovely and very cleverly designed, not to mention super-fun! The Quest2 is a unit that's fully contained and can run games by itself. Number one, the Quest2 does not require a computer/desktop/laptop to operate. See for yourself.Ī couple things to clarify (well, three for now), based on my current understanding.

Try it! Download it (it's free) in the Steam Store. My 4 year old laptop passes the Valve's "SteamVR Performance Test" easily. nut there is no way to execute the package from the HMD side of things. There is so much misinformation here about a computer being "VR Ready".

Was tottaly off on how to get vridge on to the quest2.
#STEAM VR SUPPORTED CARDS INSTALL#
i ill probably install vridge to my quest 2 eventually. you should be able to install the package from the quest 2 in standalone mode. you should only need to connect you occulus to you PC, then copy the. the process should be simpler than with the sidequest. But, like the sidequest option, it requires sideloading. it supprtd both wireless andd usb connections.

#STEAM VR SUPPORTED CARDS SOFTWARE#
this software is not free, but costs next to nothing. I have found that steamvr games need to be run in vr mode at least once before it ill sho up in the rift libary.Īlso, personally I have, from before I got my quest 2, and as using my hobo vr ssetup, Rifcat 2.0 (PC) and Vridge (android). If everything was setup correctly you should see SteamVR setup and you can start configuring and playing your games. Start in your quest2, go to unknown sources in your library (use the filter in the top right) and start ALVR. From there you can start Oculus and SteamVR games.ģ) ALVR: install ALVR on your quest using Sidequest and the server application on your computer. It will connect automatically to your PC If your streamer application is running on your PC. When all those steps are completed: start in the quest 2, connect to the correct wifi access point you want to use for VD and start the Virtual desktop application. Last step, be sure that you downloaded and installed the Virtual desktop Streamer application from the official website. From Sidequest you need to install the Virtual desktop patch/update. Once Virtual desktop is installed, plug your headset to your computer using a USB cable and start Sidequest. If you don't see SteamVR in your Oculus library then use the virtual desktop feature of Oculus interface and manually start a SteamVR game from your Steam library.Ģ) Virtual desktop: /!\ you need to buy virtual desktop in the Oculus Quest 2 store /!\ Version bought in Steam or in the Rift Oculus store WILL NOT WORK. From there go to library and you should have access to your games purchased on Oculus Rift store and SteamVR games. There are three ways to play SteamVR games with our Quest2:ġ) Link + Oculus software on PC: using the official cable or any compatible usb3 cable, start in the quest2 and click on Oculus Link to start a PCVR session.
